Max handles each issue with Grace and yet fullness of Truth. I especially enjoy how he connects scriptural truths with each question. Max does not shy away from tackling "the deep" questions either. He full admits he does not know everything; but know the one who does and directs the reader to search the scripture to find the resolve needed. You will find all these questions in the book have came to Max by personal encounters through out his years of writing. Back to School!!

I was out shopping the other day and noticed all the school supplies. I caught a glance of the classic box of crayon crayola placed in a large bin. Children were gathered around the bin filled with the primary yellow box, out line in the typical green style. That was one of my greatest joys as a child getting a fresh new box of crayons!! Just to crack open a box and take a big whiff....awwwww touch of heaven!! To me there was nothing like new crayons with that sharp new untouched tip, perfect for outlining those favored coloring books! I can still remember searching for the famous yellow #2 pencils and their special little top hat erasers to match!! Searching up and down the Dimestore aisles was pure delight. I just never knew what might call my name. Oh yes, there it is, the glue.... the perfect little bottle of yellow goo with the rubber slanted tip. I always wanted that, but it was never on the teachers list. Hmmm I wonder why??? Goo heaven, perhaps?! We were always assigned to get the white paste. What a bore compared to the yellow goo liquid, with that mysterious rubber tip.
I can remember kids having a fetish with their glue, turning around to see Timmy eating it, YUCK!! Well it did smell kinda good but eating it, was pure crazy to me!!! Who could ever forget those special blunt scissors we were all assigned to get in elementary school. To this day I can hear, "be careful you could cut yourself" and......"I said, don't cut your sisters hair," it still echos through the memories of my mind. Do you remember the Big Red Cheif tablets? Today, someone might think you were talking about the latest street drug. Move over Big Cheif, there is a new kid on the block. This kid arrived a good 10 years ago, now. That notebook and I don't mean the 3 ring binder required in High School. Nope, it is a new day!! These notebooks have batteries with rams. (which are not animals on the front) Gone is Big Cheif, gone is the glue bottle with the slanted rubber stoppers and Timmy is gone too.

One thing remains...the same...the smell of crayola crayons with the perfect sharpend tips!! Mmmmmm, yes indeed, still a bit of heaven to me.

Have a great year at school everyone. Remember, it is those little things, that are the BIG things!
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8329911922175543556.post-78356868437744709702009-03-11T12:29:00.000-07:002009-03-11T12:36:28.222-07:00Free....Crochet Along

Hi Crochet Fans!

This is a delightful opportunity to join in a free crochet along. In years gone by, people didn't have the luxury of owning a large wardrobe. Washing and drying clothing was not done on a frequent basis. So aprons served a practical purpose of covering up the dress underneath to project it from soiling. This made washing much easier. The apron would be washed every couple of days but the dress or clothing underneath did not have to be washed as much, perhaps maybe once a week. Later they began serving as decorative purpose also. Not just housewives wore aprons; school teachers, children, shop-keepers, and secretaries wore different styles of aprons over their clothing every day.
In the 1920's and '30's aprons followed the silhouette of the dress - long, with no waist line. By the 1940's, aprons gained a cinched waistline, and were often gaily trimmed with rick-rack, buttons, and pockets of contrasting color. Many aprons were made from feed cloth. Feed cloth was a heavier fabric and was used as a sack to put seed or four in that farmers used. There was no wasting back then, when the sacks were empty,. the feedsack fabric was used for quilts and aprons. In fact, when the apron had "seen its day" and was ready to be tossed, the best parts were cut out and used for quilts.
The 1950's brought out the half-aprons of highly starched cotton, feedsack, and sheer ( a see- through fabric) trimmed with lace for special occasions. Also two- piece aprons and short smocks of bright cotton prints for every day use were popular.
At one point, Aprons were a serious fashion element, not just an afterthought cover-up! Today the more rugged utilitarian aprons are still in use. The old-fashioned pretty cotton ones are hard to find. The modern aprons are available in both printed and hand stitched designs in a bouquet of appealing color.

This information was from:http://www.stitchesinfaith.com/historyofaprons.htm

Visit her site and check out her handmade aprons!

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8329911922175543556.post-60699073492036788332009-02-23T11:24:00.000-08:002009-02-23T11:35:33.759-08:00The cutest APRON PATTERN...free!

This is such a cute pattern and it is free.
